Fred’s a boy with a problem: he wants to be Jewish. At least he thinks he does - he doesn’t actually know that much about Jews or being Jewish, just that it all feels like something he can finally belong to. Rabbi Jacobs thinks Fred’s going through “The King Kong of all identity crises,” but Fred wants to belong somewhere, and he thinks somewhere may be deep in the bosom of the Jewish community, so he sets out to be a Jew - at least for a day.
